BIG BOY BROTHER BEDROOM REVEAL

Elevating design and kid friendly coexist in this Big Boy Brother Bedroom. We incorporated both boys interests, a calming and neutral color palette, with easy-to-care for materials to create a space for two brothers to grow up in together.

The final reveal is such an exciting moment to share with a client. Especially when the clients are two brothers who are six and two. The two year old was graduating from his crib and being promoted to a big boy bed and big brother was eager to welcome him in. To create a space blending two ages and interests, we took what the boys loved and meshed it with a beautiful aesthetic.

While the size of the room was already quite large, the light and bright walls and ceiling afforded us the opportunity to mix in darker bedding and a deep stain + paint chest of drawers. Gray, beige, cream, white, dark green, and wood tones all work together nicely, balancing the space.

Since the boys have a dedicated play room, the boys only needed this space for sleeping, fort building, and reading. While the chest of drawers is a refurbished vintage piece by a local furniture flipper, the artwork above the bed was commissioned. To make it even sweeter, the artist is the boys grandfather. The trout are especially meaningful because each trout was caught by the boys father who enjoys fly fishing. A hobby he hopes to share with them one day. The bed and bedding were sourced for durability and to last. Two slipcovered style headboards and bedskirts were handcrafted and sewn by an upholsterer out of Charlotte, NC using Revolution Performance Fabric. The carpentry and mill work were installed by a local carpenter. A lot of love went into designing and creating this bedroom and we could not be happier with how it turned out.

Meticulous detail, function, and meaningful selections are intentional in each Motif Homes design. Rooms for children are no exception. We know two little boys who will be able to grow in this bedroom for many years to come. The beauty? The bedroom will grow with them too.
